Over a year ago I designed a couple of footwear collections for Kappa, Italy with Hing Yeung from Hong Kong Stunt Team. He recently sent me cheap adidas shoesphotos of some of these shoes, which I can share with you here. These pics are a little taster of what will be displayed on our official website. When we update with this project on the website we will include sketches and development work for these collections. Sometimes, I think about how we can make a better world. Because it seems very clear to me how things could be. And I begin to wonder at how comegoogi jeans the world is such a confusing, twisted place. Then I keep asking “why?” until I get the bottom of it.

And I think that when we look for solutions to today’s problems, we have to remember to get to the very root of them. And when we get to the very root of every problem, we start seeing, that just a few core problems can have very wide ramifications. And that no matter what we do about issues on the surface, if the source is untouched, new problems will continue to manifest from the real problems that are underneath.

Some things are just misunderstood. For example, we now know that race has no genetic existence. As far as biology is concerned, there is no such thing as race. And as far as society should be concerned, there is the possibility that people with identical skin color, hair type and facial structure have ancestors that may have livedca jeans in the same geographic areas. Race, it means nothing else, beyond superficial, physical appearances. There is no correlation to any other human properties that had already evolved when the differences in physical appearances began to develope, such as intelligence, physical prowess, etc. This misunderstanding is responsible for racism. Just this simple realization dispels racism completely.

A world completely without racism would change a lot of things on its own. Not to mention, what would happen if it were combined with the absence of war, for instance.

I have this feeling that people all want the same things. That there aren’t really conflicts between people, that everybody really can and wants to get along. It just seems to me that the differences that tend to divide people aren’t irreconcilable.

People all want to be fulfilled. Everybody wants to be happy, they just go about it in different ways. People have different ideas about how to do things, but what they want accomplished is really the same. Everybody wants justice, freedom, equality, etc. They just have different ideas about what these things are. But, again, the ideas aren’t very much different. The 9 am bullet train to Tokyo was pretty crowded. Even in the smoking car the only open spots were sparsely scattered among the three-seat rows, sandwiched between slouched, drooling, or chain-smoking businessmen. When it became clear that we weren’t going to find seats together, and that standing might be preferable to the unpleasantry of sliding into separate middle seats, Mariko and I decided to hover in the open space between cars with the hope that something would open up.

The corridor between bullet train cars isn’t actually such a bad place to hang out. You get the convenience of immediate restroom access as well as first shot out the door when the train arrives. And if that weren’t enough, there’s also the added bonus that at your minutest muscle twitch the automatic door to the cabin flings open and you become the center of attention for the whole car. Of course, after about 70 or 80 times most people stop looking up, but the really devoted fans – the children and old people – they never stop sneaking glances.

Fortunately, after about 20 minutes or so a couple of baggy-eyed business guys shuffled off the train and we swooped down into their seats. Forty minutes later we stepped out onto the station platform in Tokyo. Had I been blind and deaf I probably would have still known without a doubt that we were in Japan’s capital city. The streets and byways there are really more like riverbeds than anything else, with people cascading and teeming in droves through them. Mariko and I were swept up in the torrent and carried out onto a thoroughfare where the sun beat down on the pressing crowds, which despite their density moved pretty rapidly along.

As we were propelled forward I made some comment to Mariko about the number of people. “You’ve been to New York and Chicago, right?” she said. “This can’t be all that different.” I thought about that for a moment. While big American cities are definitely crowded, people tend to give you some space. I can remember being amidst large crowds in New York, but I don’t recall ever being quite so intimate with others while waiting for street signals to change. As we made our way toward Senso-ji, Tokyo’s oldest temple, I was literally pressed against half a dozen other people at any given moment.

Senso-ji is located in an area of the city called Asakusa, which is rather famous as a historic/tourist district. Before actually coming into view of the temple we saw a dense thicket of cell phone-clutching arms and hands sprouting up from the crowd some distance ahead of us. In Japan no memory or scene goes undocumented by photograph, and to make that easier the cameras built into cell phones are often just as good as stand-alone cameras. In fact, I haven’t touched my own camera since I arrive here eight months ago, as the photographic capabilities of my Japanese phone slightly outperform that of my American digital
